The first adaptive lens with optical performance comparable to static optics and, the APX enables the design of next generation optical systems. The APX is a fluidic lens, comprising two thin glass wafers encapsulating an index matched fluid reservoir. An integrated actuator controls fluidic pressure, altering the curvature of the glass wafers, dictating focal length. The actuator is addressed by the application of low voltage control signal.
